wait! i'm not ready!!

I made an appointment with an acupuncturist today, and I am about to cancel it. Why? I am afraid of the unknown. It's really irrational, but it is what it is. It's the same fear that kept me from calling a new RE and making an appointment. That I actually did yesterday, and I am waiting for the new patient coordinator to call me back. I got this doctor's name from a friend of mine who did IVF last year and now has a 9 month old little girl, and she's starting all over again this SEPTEMBER. Nerves of steel this girl has. She said she liked this doc really well, and I trust her judgment. So, we are going, hopefully soon. Ah! Why am I nervous??? We've been at this for 2 years.

I am such a scaredy cat.

I promise - nothing scary about acupuncture. It is no more painful than putting on an earring. Pressure, if at all, lasts less that perceptible time, and then you don't feel it.

It's incredibly relaxing.

Gosh, I hope you went ahead with the appointment (even though it was scary) and you found it wasn't that bad!!

I find some of the points can be slightly painful at first, when the needle goes in (but for only a second) and that the overall experience, like lj said, is very relaxing!

I was the same way....almost freaked out hours before my appointment...but I went anyway and I loved it. They normally give you time to relax/sleep and it's probably going to be the best sleep you've ever had! Enjoy!

Did you go to acupuncture?

I have been going since September and I enjoy it for the most part. The expense is the biggest deterrent, but it is great for relaxing!

I'm backing what LJ and Watson said. The acupuncturist will determine your issues and will stimulate points (with the needles) that correspond to your issues & where you are in your cycle. Some of those points are a little sensitive but only for a second. Afterward I feel like I am in la-la land. Very relaxed.

Hope it goes well for you.

Cheers, Ms Planner

Go...you'll enjoy the time that is devoted just to you. There is absolutely NO pain in it at all. I was a bit needle phobic (ironic now considering all the needles I shove in myslef) but it was easy and pain free.
Expensive though!
